SPAIN COACH REACTS TO DE GEA'S ERROR VS PORTUGAL

Spain Coach Fernando Hierro has reacted to David De Gea's blunder in the first half against Portugal which led to Ronaldo's goal.

At halftime it was 2-1 in favour of Portugal, but Spain were able to turn the table around with two quick goals before Cristiano Ronaldo secured a free-kick equaliser as the match ended 3-3.

But David De Gea's error in the match was very shocking from a Goalkeeper of his class and Hierro has reacted after the match.

"We don't have any doubts about De Gea and he doesn't have any doubts about himself,” Hierro said.

“Being a goalkeeper requires a certain psychology but we have absolutely no doubts about him.

"I feel extremely privileged because people have had a fantastic reaction to the situation and I'm very grateful. The circumstances have not been easy at all.

"The Spanish players are extremely professional and I hope this squad will continue to show that motivation.

“All the players are important from player number one to player number 23."

Hierro then revealed his delight after Spain came twice from behind.

"We feel very proud of the players we have come back and equalised twice so we feel a great commitment and pride,” he added.

"This is a mature squad, the team knows what it wants and have been playing a lot together . It is wonderful to have these mature, committed players.

"We are a team, we know that players have good days and not as good days, but we are a team. Diego Costa has played a sensational match but it is all of us together as a team, together. We are not going to criticise anyone.

"There was already a plan in place for the first match so we were going to stick with that plan."
